Membership LEVELS
SCEMSA has individual and organizational membership types. New membership types were implemented in January 2022 and come with different benefits. All members are valid for one year from date of joining or renewal.
Individual Memberships
- Active Member - $50.00
Individual active members are persons engaged in any emergency medical service in South Carolina as an employee or volunteer of a service with Active individual membership. An individual member may be a paramedic, emergency medical technician, physician or other allied health professional. Voting members. Individual members may be appointed to committees and may serve as Committee Chairman. Individual members may be elected to the Board of Directors. Dually enrolled with NAEMT.
- Associate Member - $25.00
An individual that does not fall within other membership levels who are interested in supporting the aims and purposes of this association. (non-voting and no dual NAEMT membership)
- Student Member - $40.00
Student members are individuals that are currently enrolled in an EMS certification level program (EMT, AEMT, Paramedic) upon the initiation of their membership into SCEMSA. Upon completion of the member’s education and final certification the remainder of their membership would be transferred over to an Individual Membership. A student membership is limited to 1 year and is a one time only membership. Dually enrolled in SCEMSA & NAEMT.
- Honorary Lifetime Memberships
The Executive Committee may grant honorary lifetime memberships to a member who has been active in the Association, who has retired, or resigned from their position that made them eligible for membership in the Association. Consideration for this type of membership follows a nomination from an association member. Membership includes voting privileges.
Organizational Memberships
- Air Ambulance Membership - Price Varies
Membership for DHEC Licensed Air Ambulance Services - Dues are $500 per DHEC Permitted Aircraft for each parent company. - Associate Member (Non-Profit) - $500.00
Non-profit organizations that do not fall within other membership levels who are interested in supporting the aims and purposes of this association. (non-voting, no dual NAEMT membership) - EMS Educational Institution - $1,500.00
Institutions that are credentialed by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control to provide initial and on-going training for those who are, or aspire to be, certified emergency medical technicians. - Ground Ambulance Service - Price Varies
Public and private entities that are licensed by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and operate permitted ground ambulances Ground ambulance $100 per permitted ambulance with a $500 minimum or to a max of 30 units or $3,000. - Hospital Member (Large) - $3,000.00
A Large Hospital Member is a hospital that has 100 or more licensed beds. Not dually enrolled with NAEMT. - Hospital Member (Small) - $1,500.00
A Small Hospital Member is a hospital that has fewer than 100 licensed beds. Not dually enrolled in NAEMT. - Non-Transporting Agency - $500.00
Non-Transporting Members are entities licensed by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control that employ emergency medical technicians to provide emergency care to the ill and injured. These entities DO NOT operate permitted ambulances. - Regional EMS Education Institution - $3,000.00
Regional EMS Education Institution Members are the four Regional EMS Councils in South Carolina (Low Country, Midlands, Pee Dee, Upstate) that are credentialed by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control to provide initial and on-going training for those who are, or aspire to be, certified emergency medical technicians. - Vendor Partnership - Starts at $500.00
Corporate Members are individuals or businesses: engaged in the manufacture or sale of products related to the field of Emergency Medical Services; engaged in the delivery of services related to the field of Emergency Medical Services, or; that are otherwise interested in the field of Emergency Medical Services. Organizational Membership Add-Ons
This applies to membership levels: Ground Ambulance Members, Non-Transporting Members, Air Ambulance Members, EMS Education Institution Members, and Regional EMS Education Institution Members only. These levels have the option to add-on additional options to their annual dues.
- NAEMT Agency or Institution Designation - $350
This option adds $350 to annual dues for each membership level and includes a total of 10 members with dual membership in NAEMT for all membership levels, except education institution members are only allowed five total members for $175. - Additional Individual Members - $40 each
This option may be added after the NAEMT Agency or Institution Designation. Individual members or students may be added to the agency/institution membership and will be invoiced at $40/each annually. The number of members may change each year.
